Cali
Cali was born A Capricorn, in Minnesota during a snow storm on December 27th 1981...her parents divorced when she was 3....her family moved to NE Ohio when she was 6 yrs old..Cali’s first musical memory was michael jackson's beat it....Cali started writing songs when she was 9, writing her feelings down in poetry was something that just came naturally to her. She started a group called interjection! in 6th grade. “Basically all my friends would come over to my house and I would sing over all of them while my mom videotaped” .... Around 6th grade she recalls falling in love with words, poetry came very easily to her, I would always help friends with poetry assignments… Around this time she heard Joe ‘All the Things Your Man Won’t do’ which made her want to become an R&B singer. Cali started taking voice lessons concentrating on musical theater when she was 16...Besides Lettering in Softball, Volleyball, and Cheerleading she studied Drama and acted in plays in high school, like The Sound of Music, and had the leading roles in Bye Bye Birdie, Cinderella, and American Beauties. Cali also started modeling at the local mall in fashion shows, even though people told her that she wasn't’t tall enough or that pretty she always felt she belonged in front of the camera.
After graduating high school Cali’s dream was to go to NYU and study film and voice, but she went to Kent state university and studied musical theater for about a semester and a half. Although she had a promising theater career in front of her, Cali decided she didn't want to do Broadway but wanted to concentrate on her song writing and recording career. She did decide to stay in the Kent Sate Gospel Choir, which she credits as one of the most amazing experiences of her life. After Leaving college Cali Hooked up with Cleveland producer Yonni of Skelatune music and started working on a few solo projects with him....soon she met a DJ and concert promoter that was looking to make a POP-girl group, after working with the girls for over a year and having not much to show for it but great friendships they all decided to go our separate ways. Cali was used to working with MC’s and hip-hop artist and much more comfortable singing about real-life than pop music.
Cali was also starting to become a well-known Internet model, having guest appearances on the WB’s Elimidate, and WWE RAW. Cali went back to working with Yonni on some tracks for her R&B demo. Longtime friend, Cleveland’s own, Saj Supreme called and asked if she’d like to sing the hook on intro for the Cleveland Radio station 107.9's top 7 at 7! She did and the work relationship with her Mentor, Saj Supreme was born. “Being an underground MC, Saj really knew how to bring out the artist in me and push me to work hard on my lyrics, and taught me that ‘I can say that’!” After working on this project with Saj for the last 8 months Cali finally has a collection of songs that she believes represent Cali Miles as an artist and as a woman. Sexy, Rn'B with a hip-hop vibe.... Provocative and sassy at the same time. Aside from finishing up her R&B and Hip-Hop demo CD, Cali has also been performing as a dancer and vocalist in a cabaret-style show called ‘La Femme’ in venues such as Karma Nightclub, Tramp, and The exclusive House of Blues.
Lookout for ‘So Far Away’ produced by Philly’s Mr. Attic, ‘Stop Callin’ my Phone’ and ‘Untie Me’ from Virginia’s Bring it Back Ent., and R&B inspired tracks from Yonni at Skelatune Music ‘Got Me High’ and ‘Alone’. The Twinz produce Cali's 'Knock' , and a mixtape version of Fat Joe and the Terror Squad's "Lean Back' Cali brings you "Step Back".
