RAY AUSTIN
Ray Austin also known as The "Rainman" is a force to be reckoned with in the world of boxing. This 6'6, heavyweight contender from Cleveland , Ohio has his eyes set on becoming the future Heavyweight Champion of the World, with only one fight remaining before the title shot. Meeting Don King was just dream to Austin as he saw him on television and admired him for being responsible in helping to create many black millionaires. So when Austin saw the opportunity to connect with King he did just that, King made no promises but told Austin he would see what he could do. Austin says it took two years to get it done, but they got it done and proclaims that King is truly a man of his word. Despite his lack of amateur experience Austin turned pro at the age of 27 and says seeing people such as Tyson win the world title at such a young age motivated him, believing that if he just put his mind, heart, body and soul into it that he would be successful. When asked where did The "Rainman" come form Austin replied "It came from a tournament when I was up and coming, a heavyweight is known for throwing approximately 40 to 50 punches per round if that, I on the other hand was throwing 94 to 97 punches per round at that time and after the fight when I came out of the ring a man said "hey Ray, man you where raining those punches down on him" everyone thought he said Rainman" so it was simply a misunderstanding that worked out in Austin's favor. Now this hardworking prize fighter, who has won 24 fights with 16 being knockouts, currently trains in Florida where he can concentrate and focus, along with his manager/ trainer Romeo Connors which has been with Austin from day one. The "Rainman" admits that training can be very intense at times working out 3 to 4 times a day training not only physically but mentally for battle, but says once he commits himself it's a done deal!
Not just a boxer Austin is an intelligent young man that's a loving father, currently raising his 5 children and does his absolute best to instill good and positive things into their hearts and minds. Austin says he likes to have fun and describes himself as a typical regular guy with an extraordinary job that he loves very much but other than that he's human.
Austin's final comment: "I just want everybody to know that I'm the best boxer in Cleveland city wide and world wide, I'm the best the up and coming heavyweight "Rainman" Ray Austin, they gone feel the pain along with the rain that's why they call me The "Rainman" I'm known for leaving people in puddles and things of that nature, because I rain punches down on em' and I leave them stuck, and that's just how it goes The "Rainman" Ray Austin the future World Heavyweight Champion of the World will prevail as soon as this fight comes about. It's a thing going on right now where they are trying to say it's the U.S. verse Germany or Russia, but it's really not like that its one boxer against another and may the best man win. When I get my chance and opportunity I'm definitely going to seize the moment and win. That's the goal that's the strategy it always has been since day one. I will go and keep going until my goal is reached and that's my goal to be The World Heavyweight Champion and represent team Ohio to the fullest. Born and raised I went to Shaw High School class of 88!" Said with much confidence Cleveland stand up and keep your eyes on this phenomenal athlete The "Rainman" Ray Austin.
